「冬蟲夏草」是高原地區盛產的名貴藥材。此乃由麥角菌科植物「冬蟲夏草」菌寄生在蝙蝠蛾科昆蟲蝙蝠幼蟲上的子座，連合幼蟲屍體一併入藥，稱之為「冬蟲夏草」。
據中國醫學書藉巨著《本草網目》內記載到「冬蟲夏草」功用等同人參，主治腎虛所致的陽補益肺腎、納氣平喘、化痰止血；即肺氣虛或肺腎兩虛的喘促氣少、咳嗽、勞嗽痰血。由於「冬蟲夏草」藥性平和，故此補而不燥，對於身體虛弱和虛不受補者是最佳之健康補品。若用作病後及老人體弱調理，更能減低中風及老人病、失億抗衰老、保青春、增長壽命。長服有助調節功能，加強新陳代謝、隆低血脂、血壓、平喘化痰、保肝、保肺、軟化血管、使身體強壯，以致延年益壽。

Cordyceps of Cleviceps is one of the rare medical herbs
teeming in plateau areas of Sichuan, China The Cordyceps
sinensis (Berk.) Sacc parasitizes the stoma of the larva of
Hepialus arnori camus Opertur (a kind of insect belonging to
Hepialidae), and both the Cordyceps sinensis (Berk.) Sacc
and larva are used as medicine to make Cordyceps.
According to monumenumental medical work "Compendium of
Materia Medical" of China, the functions of Cordyceps equal
to those of ginseng. It mainly cures impotence,spermatorrhea,
lassitude and pain in waist and leg, dizziness and tinnitus,
etc. due to the kidney deficiency. Additionally, it can
tonify lung and kidney, take in qi and relieve asthma, and
reduce phlegm and stop bleeding; cure dyspnea and short
breath, cough, and over-strained cough and bloody phlegm due
to the lung qi deficiency and lung-kidney deficiency. Thanks
to its placid nature, Cordyceps can strengthen the physique
without getting dryness, so it is the best choice of healthy
tonic for people who are weak and cannot receive other
tonics due to deficiency. If used for nursing people who
have just recovered and the old who are weak, Cordyceps will
help to reduce the risk of apoplexy, geriatric disease and
